Cute cows for all occasions!
Have you spotted the Over the Moon stamp set on P 32 of the annual catalogue? I’m not really into cute animals but somehow this set just caught my attention. And I can see it being perfect for so many different types of cards – Thank you, Birthday, sending love and hugs, congratulations, anniversaries – just to name a few.
So here is my first card with the set. I decided the cow should be in a field of daisies and used some sponging to create the background.
How to make the card
The card base is from Thick Whisper White – a piece of A4 cut at 14.8 cm and scored at 10.5 cm.
For the background I started by sponging a piece of Whisper White, 14.3 cm by 10 cm) with Balmy Blue ink. You only need to do the top half for the sky. The fields are pieces of Whisper White cut with the curved die from In the Woods and sponged with Granny Apple Green ink. My top tip for sponging is to start sponging on your piece of grid paper before moving to your real piece of cardstock. It is really easy to get too much ink on your first stroke which is then difficult to blend in! Ask how I know!
Once you have layered up the fields on to the piece of sponged Balmy Blue, stamp some grass clumps in Granny Apple Green. The stamp is in the Over the Moon stamp set.
The white flowers are die cut with dies from the Budding Blooms set. You cut three flowers at a time which really speeds the process up. I added a dab of Daffodil Delight with a blend to the centres. I find an odd number of flowers works best.
The cow is stamped on a scrap of Whisper White in Memento ink and coloured with the following blends.
Nose – Flirty Flamingo in both light and dark
Hooves – Light Basic Black
Wellies – Pool Party light and dark
Leaves – Granny Apple Green Dark
Flower – Light Pool Party and Daffodil Delight
Patches – Dark Smokey Slate
Fussy cut the cow out and add it to the card front with dimensionals.
Hello die cut – I’m quite proud of this as I needed to be inventive! Using the Well Written dies I die cut the following words: happy, welcome and love. Cutting the “H” from happy and the “EL” from welcome and the “LO” from love I made the word hello! I used fine-tip glue to add it to the card front.
Cow’s it going – is one of the sentiments in the set. I stamped it on a scrap of Whisper White in Balmy Blue ink and added it with dimensionals.
I can’t wait to use the other cows in the set- they have the cutest expressions!
