Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce for the perfect birthday combination
Last week was Isabelle’s 17th birthday and I found I had a perfectly sized pillow box in my present wrapping box. I like to recycle wherever possible and so this was its second use at least. Is was a good match for Melon Mambo so this helped me to decide on my colour scheme. However as Isabelle has previously mentioned she notices how I wrap her birthday present I felt under pressure to come up with a co-ordinated look and also something suitable for a seventeen year old!
Co-ordinate your card with your tag and a matching belly band!
The card is easy to make but so effective. Take a piece of Whisper White that is 9.5 cm by 13.8 cn and stamp the big Monstera leaf in Granny apple Green, I turn the stamp each time I use it to give a more informal look. Stamp the spiky leaf in Shaded Spruce in the gaps.
For the flowers I wanted a two-tone effect. Ink the flower in Flirty Flamingo then add Melon Mambo ink with a dauber or sponge around the edge. I love the effect this creates when you stamp it. DO remember to clean your stamp each time so you don’t stamp Melon Mambo into your Flirty Flamingo ink pad! (If you do this by mistake clean off as much ink as you can and re-ink your stamp pad – it will be like new!). The flowers are stamped on a scrap of paper so you can use the matching die to cut them out. I like to add an odd number .
Die cut “happy” from Flirty Flamingo with the Well Written dies. The “birthday” is stamped in Shaded Spruce on a scrap. You can use your snips to cut it out but if I like me you find it difficult to cut straight you can use your Label punch and snip of the ends!
The stamped piece is mounted on Flirty Flamingo measuring 10 cm by 14.3 cm. It is all added to a card base made from Thick Whisper White cut in half and scored.
The belly Band is simply a piece of Whisper white wrapped around the pillow box. I decided how much of the box I wanted to show on either side and cut the paper to that width. I stamped the whole length with the leaves and secured it on the back with a piece of tear and tape (double sided tape). It slips off easily but you can open the box without moving it.
The tag was a bit of a using up all the items on my desk! I had got a the different colour scraps I was using in advance as I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to use. As they were out I made the tag from a selection of them!
Here is what you need to make all the projects!
