When you just want to say Happy Father’s Day!
My dad isn’t a fisherman, beer drinker or interested in tinkering with cars so the standard ideas for Father’s Day cards don’t work for me. And in fact I am running a bit late in making the card this year – can I blame the bad weather? I mean it is June and we have torrential rain!
So instead of an involved complicated card I’ve gone for a really quick and simple card this year. You might even recognise the base from cards I posted last week! You know how it is, you have leftover bits on your desk, it would be a shame to waste them and it made everything come together so quickly!
How to make the card
The base is Pretty Peacock, have I mentioned this is my new favourite colour! And to add some dimension the Whisper White layer is embossed with the Tile Tin folder.
Stamp the sentiment from Geared Up Garage in Pretty Peacock ink and die cut it. Add some of the burlap ribbon in a swirl behind the image. This ribbon carried over from the last catalogue so you might already have it in your stash. Make sure you stick it down firmly – before I send the card I need to add some stronger glue to mine. I used glue dots and they aren’t holding it sufficiently. I’ll add a dab of tombow later today!
I used the starburst punch and Basic Gray cardstock with a circle of white to lighten it all up.
To make it easier to write the card I also like to add a piece of Whisper White to the inside of the card. I’m a bit set in my ways – I always like my coffee mug to have a white inside and feel the same about cards!
So it feels a bit naughty to have made such an simple card but hey ho it says everything I want – Happy Father’s Day! I now just need to brave the weather to get it in the post!
