When you love the whole suite – Magnolia Lane
The new catalogue goes live today, 4th June, yippee! As a demo I get to see it early and browse with my pack of post-it notes marking all the items I “need”/want! Some things just jump off the page and into my shopping basket. The entire Magnolia Lane suite is one of those. The patterned paper is gorgeous with strong and delicate patterns. The colour combination of Basic Black, Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow and Petal Pink are just up my street as well.
Have you spotted that Stampin’ Up have made it easier for us to order the entire suite? There is now a code for the entire suite 152178 (top of P37) or if you prefer you can pick the bits of the suite you’d like to buy.
With new products I find it best to start simple and get to know them first. So here are some really simple cards to show you how pretty it it!
How to make the cards
I started with a Whisper White base – I like to use the thick cardstock for card bases. The Petal Pink mount is 10 cm by 14.3 cm, add a piece of the beautiful patterned paper measuring 9.5 cm by 13.8 cm and the final layer is a piece of vellum measuring 9 cm by 13.3 cm. I only used glue in the middle of the piece of vellum where the sentiment and flowers are going over the top. You could also add some glue dots in the corners.
Although that sounds likes lots of measuring it is quite quick. I’d make four cards at the same time whilst you are in cutting mode!
There are loads of sentiments in the stamp set – some a bit soppy for me and others nice and simple – Thanks, Hello, Thinking of You. The Happy Birthday Gorgeous is from the Beautiful You stamp set. I used Early Espresso ink rather than memento to make it a bit softer. The sentiments are die cut with the new Stitched Nested Label Dies. These are on P91 of the catalogue, take a look and add them to your basket! They are another basic that was on my “need” list!
And as this is a quick and simple card idea I choose to die cut the magnolias from another piece of the patterned paper. A bit of a cheat but when the die fits so beautifully I decided to keep my colouring skills for another day!
Why don’t you make a batch of cards for all occasions. The perfect beautiful but simple card!
