A great way to use up those scraps you keep just in case!
I can’t bear to throw away the scraps leftover from a pack of patterned paper and occasionally you find a good use for them! This layout is a perfect way to use them and also showcase how beautifully all the patterns go together. It also felt perfect to use the All My Love paper as this photo was taken on Valentine’s day!
My daughters spend hours trying to improve my selfie technique! Most of the time I seem to look like a rabbit in the headlights or fail to look at the camera! Therefore this one was a definite success!
However, this photo has a great background story so I knew I wanted to add a lot of journaling to the page. I drew myself light lines in pencil, using my grid paper to line up the ruler, so I could try and keep it straight. Afterwards I gently rubbed the lines out.
Rectangle Stitched dies again!
The majority of the pieces of patterned paper are cut using my favourite Rectangle stitched dies. I used both sides of the paper cutting myself a stack so I had plenty of patterns to choose from. For a bit of variety there are couple of 1 1/4″ circles. I was quite casual about determining where to place them down and as I was using snail adhesive had to be decisive as there was no opportunity to lift them – towbow might give you a little bit of wriggle room. Being honest mine are not perfectly straight but I think it’s ok. I loved the speed at which this page came together and decided recording the story was much more important than spending hours lining it all up perfectly – I hope you agree!
All My Love patterned paper
I picked out the Crumb Cake and Lovely Lipstick for the title using the Large Letter dies. They are perfect for most scrapbook titles. This page is quite girly but the papers would work well with some of the other colours in the pack to make it feel more boyish – Balmy Blue and Soft Sea Foam. Again you could swap out the base 12″ paper from the Whisper White to Crumb Cake.
The embellishment in the corner of the photo uses the Stitched Label Framelits and the heart is from the Wood Crate Framelits. Some pearls seemed to finish it all off.
This page was very quick and easy to make but I’m super pleased with it. Have a go and see how yours turns out. Please find below all the items you need to recreate it.
