Male cards always send me into a bit of a spin! I like flowers, ribbons and pretty bits and feel very constrained when I know I’m not meant to add them. Sometimes I don’t even look at the male stamp sets in the catalogue as if I buy them will I actually use them? However, at Onstage last November (the exclusive demo event we get to attend twice a year) they unveiled a new suite called Classic Garage and then a lovely demo showed us an amazing technique using the gear dies that made them look like rust – I wanted the set there and then!
It is a “I want it all” suite – the stamp set and dies come in a bundle which means a 10% discount, then there is the 6” patterned paper and cute silver metal embellishments in the shape of keys and spanners.
It is the feature stamp set at our Class on Tuesday, 5th February. However I’ve not just gone for male cards. The first card I designed with a new driver in mind – either well done on passing your test or buying your first card. Have you earnt the Sale-a-bration Foil sheets yet? Here I’ve embossed the Lovely Lipstick one and it is so tactile! The gears are also embossed, peaking out behind the main image, using the Big Shot Embossing mats. It is easy to forget you can use any die to emboss if you have these.
The final card uses the technique demo’d at Onstage. The rusty cogs are brilliant and it is amazing to create it from a piece of paper with some ink and clear embossing powder.
The class is Tuesday, 5th February at 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm. Here are the options:
- Class with materials to make the three cards £15
- Class with materials to make the three cards and Greated up Garage stamp set (value £20) £20
- Geared up Garage bundle (stamp set and dies, value £45.75), Class for Free and 1 level 1 Sale-a-bration item £45.75
I hope you can come, please email me to ask for a place. If you aren’t able to come but would like a kit to make the cards please say and we can work out what you need!
